New website with live-action Auslan.
The Australian Communication Exchange (ACE) provides communication products and services to deaf, communication impaired, hearing impaired and hearing people. icemedia has worked with ACE for many years, so when they needed to update their website it made sense for them to come to us.
Above all, the new website needed to be innovative and accessible to ACE’s audience. ACE came up with the idea of using live-action Auslan (Australian Sign Language) signing and captioning to achieve this.
icemedia worked closely with ACE and organised production of video of the Auslan signers. Once the films were complete, we converted the files into Flash and made them available on the website.
An added extra is that, as well as being able to manage the general content of the website, ACE can update the videos and captions themselves using the Joomla! content management system we provided.
The videos convey ACE’s message brilliantly to a large group of people with diverse needs.
